Know Your Hazards
Check your property for areas that could be damaged by heavy rain or flooding. Review your insurance policy and your lease so you understand what you, your landlord, or your tenants are responsible for. Take photos or videos of your property in case you need to show its condition before any damage occurs.
Reduce your risk of flood and storm damage by clearing drains and gutters, checking for roof leaks, securing outdoor equipment, and moving inventory, electronics and important documents to higher, flood-safe areas.
Prepare for power outages, road closures, supply chain delays and temporary business closures. Back up critical business data electronically and maintain accessible contact information for employees, suppliers and customers.
Sign up for emergency alerts at AlertSanDiego.org and encourage your employees and their families to sign up as well. Monitor local weather forecasts and ensure employees understand emergency procedures before severe weather arrives. Follow evacuation orders and never drive through floodwater.
