Homes Evacuated in Small Brush Fire East of El Cajon

Homes along Amelia Drive and Flaven Lane were evacuated Tuesday afternoon due to an approximately six acre brush fire reported near the 12900 block of Interstate 8 Business in Lakeside, just north of Interstate 8. Lakeside Rodeo Grounds were used as a temporary evacuation point. Air units were released from the incident about 3:30 p.m. after active flames were reportedly out. Firefighters used ground and air units to attack the fire, which was initially reported at about 2:20 p.m.
