County Monitoring Tropical Cyclone Rachel
The County is closely monitoring National Weather Service forecasts for Tropical Cyclone Rachel. Rachel is expected to approach the coast of southern California at tropical storm strength Saturday night. A Tropical Storm Watch has been issued for all of San Diego County, due to the possibility of tropical storm-force winds, coastal flooding, and moderate to heavy rain throughout the region. The County is coordinating with local jurisdictions and emergency response partners to ensure readiness and keep the public informed.

- Prepare your property: Clear debris from storm drains and gutters, and secure outdoor items that could blow away.
- Sandbags: Sandbags help to divert or redirect water, mud, and debris from your property and help prevent soil erosion. For locations where you can get sand and sandbags, visit: Sand and Sandbag Locations
- Do not drive your vehicle through a flooded roadway: “Turn Around, Don’t Drown.”
